Domaine de la Côte de l’Ange Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a luscious and structured French red wine with a nose of violent, blackcurrants and blackberries.

Domaine de la Côte de l’Ange was founded by Jean Claude Mestre and Monique Jeune in 1972. The Jeune family were quite experienced as growers and winemakers in the southern Rhone as the family had previously owned the well-regarded Domaine Monpertuis. Domaine de la Côte de l’Ange produced their first vintage in 1974.

The property has remained in the hands of the same family. Today, Yannick and Corinne Gasparri manage it alongside their son Jules, who is now in charge of farming and winemaking.

The wine consists of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre. Following vinification, 50% of the harvest ages in large oak barrels for 12 months.

Enjoy Domaine de la Côte de l’Ange Châteauneuf-du-Pape with roast lamb or other juicy meat dishes.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of violet, black pepper, cherries and herbs. It is silky on the palate, loaded with ripe dark fruit and savoury overtones, finishing with a touch of cocoa. The wine boasts a well-balanced weight and texture, full-bodied yet not overpowering. It has sufficient acidity to provide structure, with noticeable but smooth tannins that lead to a flavourful, dry finish.
