Jean-Claude Mas, of Domaines Paul Mas, has added Domaine Les Verrières, in the Grés de Montpellier appellation, to his portfolio of estates and ‘Les Pierres Plantées’ is the first blend to be overseen by him as winemaker and owner.
The plot ‘Les Pierres Plantées’ is located not far from the Mas de Tannes estate and enjoys an excellent micro-climate.
The site is planted with Syrah and Grenache vines, which are between 20 and 30 years old, producing low yields.
Traditional vinification is carried out, with the use of long maceration and the resultant wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose, there are complex aromas of black fruit, plum with hints of violet, spice and toast.
The Palate is opulent and persistent, the tannins are well intergrated and balanced.
