Evangelista Liquore di Genziana “Aroma Affumicato” is a smoked version of the original Genziana Evangelista liqueur. It is a traditional beverage that was historically used to aid digestion.
“Genziana” is an artisan liqueur made with the infusion of various types of gentian roots. The name “Genziana” derives from “Genziò”, King of Illyria, who made the Romans appreciate its aromatic qualities.
An authentic specialty, it is one of the oldest liqueurs from Abruzzo, created in the upper Val di Sangro to cheer up and warm the cold winter evenings of the then mayor of Borrello, founder of Evangelista Liquori. With its ancient and fascinating history and its rich and unique bouquet, Punch Abruzzo is an icon of Evangelista production. It has won numerous awards. In 2011 the strict Beverage and Testing Institute of Chicago defined it as an “Exceptional Liquor”, awarding it the gold medal.
The “Special Drink” utilises Rum and a mix of local herbal infusions and citrus fruits.
Enjoy Evangelista Liquore di Genziana “Aroma Affumicato” served hot, as is traditional. However, it also shines when enjoyed cold, with ice or straight. It makes a satisfying end to a meal, or an addition to coffee and ice cream. Also an excellent ingredient for cake-making and very versatile in mixology .
