Ezimit Vranec 2022 is produced in the Povardarie region of North Macedonia using the regional grape varietal Vranec. Ezimit winery is family-owned and focuses on wine production, development and investment. The remains of an ancient winery near the vineyards show the presence of tradition woven into Ezimit’s production methods to this day. From the point of view of the types of grapes, therefore, this microclimate allows a wide range of varietals to develop.
Vranec, which means ‘Black Stallion,’ is a deep, purple coloured grape and it has rightly become the flagship of Macedonia’s talented winemakers. It’s at home in the warm valleys around Skopje where it gradually achieves full ripeness and delicious depth of flavour.
This ruby red is abundant in forest fruit. It’s a big, bold aromatic wine with waves of blackberry, spice and a hint of chocolate and liquorice. Its full-bodied fruitiness balances well with a touch of freshness, and supple but present tannins, then a long finish.
Ezimit Vranec 2022 pairs beautifully with slow cooked tomato pasta dishes, roast beef, but also traditional Macedonian Aivar sauce which combines sweet roast peppers and aubergine with a spice! It’s perfect for fans of an Italian montepulciano.
