Ironcloud Rock of Solitude Shiraz

Ironcloud Estate (formerly Pepperilly Estate) is situated in the picturesque Ferguson Valley, in the hills of the Geographe Wine Region, overlooking Geographe Bay, Western Australia.

The vines were planted in 1999 in highly prized red gravelly loam soils and the estate comprises of a single vineyard of 28 acres comprising hand-tended Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre, Malbec, Touriga, Saparavi, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The winery is now rated as 5 star by James Halliday.

Shiraz grapes were machine-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The ferments were pumped over twice a day. Post alcoholic fermentation, it was pressed to tank before racking off to barrel for malolactic fermentation and maturation.

 

Producer’s Tasting Notes

Colour: Vibrant deep ruby- red to purple.

Nose: Aromas of Lifted blackberry and blueberries with a whiff of black pepper.

Palate: Rich, warm, smoked meat notes with big, ripe tannins
