Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto is made from Italian bergamot oranges, cedro lemons from Calabria, and selected Italian botanicals. It’s a more fragrant, elevated alternative to a triple sec, and uses a coveted family recipe.
Based on an original recipe from the 1850’s, well known at the time as ‘Apertivo do Corte’ (The Drink of Kings).
The word “rosolio” comes from the Latin “ros olis”, translated as “morning dew”. This name materialised because farmers would harvest the ingredients for the drink early in the morning when the concentration of flavour was highest, and the crop was heavy with dew.
Aromatic on the nose with citrus notes and hints of rose and lavender.
On the palate, the fresh tones of ripe citrus fruits beautifully balance delicate bitter and floral spice.
The finish is clean and refreshing, with lingering gentian root and then bergamot.
To enhance the delicate flavours of the botanicals, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto can be enjoyed 50/50 with Prosecco over ice. Garnish it with three green olives to balance the floral aromas with a touch of saltiness. In terms of food, it pairs beautifully with light seafood dishes, fresh salads, and also soft cheeses.
