Mâcon Milly-Lamartine is produced in the Mâconnais sub-region of Burgundy.

Situated west of the longest limestone secondary mountain range, which extends from Tournus in the north to Fuissé in the south, the vineyards of Milly-Lamartine occupy the westernmost slopes of the Mâconnais wine region. These vineyards are distinctive due to the cooling influence of the higher altitudes in the Haut-Mâconnais, which range from 290 to nearly 400 metres.

The vines are cultivated across a variety of soil types, including limestone, clay, and marl, depending on the specific plots. The exposure of the vineyards also varies, from the cooler north-east-facing slopes to the sunnier south-west-facing ones.

The village’s name, “Lamartine,” was added to “Milly” in 1902 to honour the renowned poet Alphonse de Lamartine, who served as the village mayor and owned an estate in the area.

Producer’s Tasting Notes

This Mâcon Milly-Lamartine features beautiful, brilliant golden yellow colour.

The nose bursts with freshness while offering a complex array of aromas, dominated by gunflint and menthol, supported by notes of peach and apricot. The palate delivers fullness and complexity, culminating in a refreshing finish that typifies this higher-altitude terroir.
