Montelio ‘Néos’ Pinot Nero D.O.C Oltrepò Pavese is a juicy, herbal red made using Pinot Noir in the northern wine region of Italy.
The Montelio estate covers 78 hectares that include fields with wheat, alfalfa, legumes and herbs.
The thirty hectares with the most suitable soil and exposure are planted with vineyards in a single contiguous area adjacent to the winery.
The favourable microclimate and low rainfall allow the estate to apply integrated viticulture methods in cultivating the vineyards. These methods include grass as ground cover, mulching, and minimized treatments using exclusively products with low environmental impact.
Though founded centuries ago, the goal of the winery remains the same: to produce elegant, authentic wines that express their terroir.
Fermentation takes place in steel and only partially in wood before bottling.
This Pinot Nero displays aromas of red berries and cherry. It also has delicate floral and herbal notes, including notes of green tea. The fruit and herbal character follows through to the palate. This is then joined by delicate dusty tannins, a light smokiness and fresh, crisp acidity.
