Russolo Pinot Grigio Ronco Calaj is a ripe, acidic and mineral Pinot Grigio which showcases just how serious this varietal can be when treated with care.
It’s made at the Russolo family winery, where brothers Rino and Iginio Russolo cultivate local and international grape varieties on the famously gravelly soils in Friuli Grave, a large appellation in the West of the region. Fruili boasts an impressively large number of small producers making regionally typical wine in a variety of styles.
The Pinot Grigio grapes are handpicked and after soft pressing with a vacuum press, the must is inoculation with selected yeasts.
Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel tanks. At the end of the fermentation, the wine rests on fine lees for between 5 to 9 months until bottling.
Enjoy Russolo Pinot Grigio Ronco Calaj as a great pair for light, white fish dishes. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
Pale yellow colour. It has the typical fragrance of white fleshed fruit as well as acacia flowers.
As a young wine the fermentative aromatic notes stand out. In the mouth it is elegantly fruity and well structured. Good balance between acidity and aroma with a long and persistent finish.
