Walter S. Siegel established himself as a vineyard owner in 1897. It wasn’t until 1937 that the Siegel wines were known in the UK, when his son Hans formed an unusual alliance with English cricketer Ian Peebles. This Deutsche-Anglo relationship imported Siegel’s wines, among other German wines into the UK. Hans honoured his father by naming this wine after him. And, so, the Walt brand was born.
The grapes were harvested at the ideal ripeness levels and a philosophy of minimal interference was used to ensure purity of flavour. Walt Pinot Noir is elegant, light and fruity with ripe red berries and hints of spice. The perfect match for roasted duck, grilled red meats or soft cheeses.
