Kaesler Stonehorse Grenache-Shiraz-Mourvedre

Kaesler owns just over 37 hectares (92 acres) of vineyards in the Barossa Valley, the majority of which is old vine material planted in 1893, 1899, 1930 and in the 1960’s.

Fruit is hand picked and hand pruned with irrigation kept to a minimum. Crop thinning is done in most years to reduce yields and maximise flavour with blocks kept separate until final blending.

The Stonehorse wines are full of character like the teams of Clydesdale horses that used to work the heavy clay soil, long before tractors were invented.

This GSM is made from estate grown fruit. It was crushed and de-stemmed, and then live yeast was added for ferment. After malolactic fermentation the wine was racked and then returned to barrels. Matured in 4 year old French oak barriques for 13 months.
