Vecchia Romagna is a famous Italian grape brandy made from the Ugni Blanc varietal – which is the same base as most Cognac brandies.
Founded in 1820, Vecchia Romagna is a family-owned Italian brandy producer. After the family’s escape from France following the French Revolution, they brought their brandy-making knowledge from Cognac to Bologna and started distilling using deliciously ripe Italian grapes.
It is produced through an initial selection of the best grapes, then a continuous distillation process in copper stills. It finishes by aging in fine oak barrels. This combination creates a brandy with a fresh, subtle flavour.
It shows toffee, orange zest, and vanilla notes on the nose and the palate with some toasty characteristics as well.
Enjoy Vecchia Romagna Brandy neat in a tulip-shaped glass to fully unlock its complex flavour profile. It particularly shines as a digestif, but also forms a lovely cocktail ingredient.
Producer’s Tasting Notes
Colour: An elegant light amber colour with heightened transparency.
Nose: The aroma is sweet with fragrances ranging from vanilla to crisp scents with a liquorice base note.
Palate: A bold taste with a delicate pungency, well-balanced flavours and a stewed plum aftertaste which blends into a dry and citrusy orange zest finish.
